Oracle database replication and automated failover over LAN or WAN
Key Oracle processes and file systems are replicated, monitored and recovered on a local or remote server. Recovery can be automated or manual. This solution works with or without shared storage, using data replication to replicate changes in data to the backup server.
Oracle RAC or Oracle Enterprise Edition are not required to recover Oracle databases with LifeKeeper. LifeKeeper presents the Oracle user base with a real alternative to RAC and Data Guard.

Feature Highlights:

  • Recovers Oracle servers with only a few minutes downtime
  • Ensures 99.99% uptime
  • Failover of Oracle instances to a hot standby server
  • Does not require Oracle Enterprise Edition or Oracle RAC
  • Active/Active configuration allows multiple Oracle databases to be protected and removes requirement for a redundant server
  • Up to 32 nodes clusters can be configured in an N+1 configuration (N active and 1 standby server)
  • Data replication capability allows failover without shared storage, resulting in a low-cost failover solution
  • Failover over a LAN using Data replication or shared storage
  • Disaster recovery to a remote site using failover over a WAN
  • Can be administered from a web browser

LifeKeeper is a Cost Effective Solutions

We have been able to maximise our investment in our high availability cluster by implementing SteelEye LifeKeeper in an active/active mode. The second server in the cluster is used to run other vital service components – using this active/active configuration means that there is no need for redundant hardware to act as a standby server.
