Established by a small group of consultants in 1990, the business has always served the corporate clients across a range of industries. Initially by providing technical training and consultancy in Unix, C and C++. Today the company has evolved to being a provider of specialist application recovery products and services.
We are specialists in high availability and disaster recovery. All our consultants have specialist knowledge in different aspects and applications. From this unique vantage point, we are able to provide advice based on our experience and knowledge of the environment and the recovery that you are trying to achieve.
We believe in partnering with our customers from first specification to full implementation.
Our involvement does not stop after a system is put in, as we pride ourselves in our after sales support. Our partnership with you starts when we help you put your systems in.
We are a specialist team of consultants, and are partners of Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, VMWare and HP. Most of the people who work at Open Minds have a technical background.

Role: business development & Management
Background: Shobana is qualified with a 1st class BSc Hons in Maths and Computer Science from Warwick University and an MBA from Aston University. Her previous employment includes working as Software Development Engineer for GEC Telecommunications, as an instructor for NCR Ltd, and as a training manager for Fletcher Computer Services before forming Open Minds in 1990. Initially formed to supply technical training and consultancy for UNIX and C Programming, in early 2000 Open Minds High Availability Solutions (OMHAS) was formed and began distributing SteelEye products to the UK and Ireland.
Role: IT, technical problems, sales
Background: Bipin is qualified with a BSc Hons in Computer Science from Warwick University. Bipin had over 27 years experience in the IT industry in various technical and development roles. Bipin has around 17 years experience in LifeKeeper solutions. He is the lead architect of Open Minds and his knowledge of the LifeKeeper solutions is world class. His previous employment includes work as a software engineer for Linotype Paul, as a support manager for Aston Technology and over ten years working for NCR Limited in consultancy roles. He joined Open Minds in 2000 when Open Minds High Availability Solutions was formed.
Role: IT, technical queries and support
Background: Simon has worked in many IT roles over the last 8 years, he is an active member of the Linux Group and is also a Microsoft Certified Professional. Outside of IT Simon enjoys activities such as Mountain Biking and Rugby. He began working at Open Minds in August 2008.
Role: Sales, Marketing and Business Development
Background: Taj is qualified with Bsc Hons in Pharmacutical Science from Wolverhampton University. Her previous employment includes working for Double-Take Software as an Account Manager. Taj has around 5 years experience in the High Availability & Disaster Recovery market working with accounts like BT and Steria. Taj also brings knowledge and experiance of working with the Asia region. Taj joined Open Minds in June 2010.
It is difficult to say exactly how much downtime has been saved by the LifeKeeper clustering solution but we have maintained uninterrupted service during events that would otherwise could have caused hours of downtime. With the reassurance and failover that LifeKeeper provides we have also been able to perform system maintenance and upgrades without affecting end users.
